Rules, regulations and guidelines
On this page you can find information on all of the rules and guidelines for most working events that you will encounter, and some of which we may be able to run in the future under the workingflatcoats banner. We will direct you to other pages with relevant content, or the pages of other websites, but if you were looking to find out more about the FCRS Shooting Dog Certificate, Working Tests, Field Trials, the Kennel Club Working Gundog Certificate of Show Gundog Working Certificate, then you have come to the right place!
Gundog working tests are a way to competitively asses the working ability of a gundog, through a series of different tests and trials, without any game being shot. They test the training and skills that your dog would have within the shooting field, and should be seen as a means to an end, rather than the end itself.
Field Trials are a way of testing the working ability of gundogs within a competitive setting. With Field Trials you work with live game and the day itself is meant to as closely as possible resemble a day’s shooting in the field.
FCRS Shooting Dog Certificate
The FCRS periodically runs Shooting Dog Certificate events. This event is designed to certify your dog as being appropriate breeding stock for future working dogs. The SDC was set up as a way to help signify which dogs would produce puppies that were likely to be born with the right working characteristics and instincts to become a great working dog and shooting companion.
